Resurrection!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

I saw these Resurrection Eggs on one of the blogs I read, and I thought they would be fun for Matthew. The blog said you could buy them at Wal-Mart, but I didn't find them there so I ordered them online.

I read the story to Matthew and Carter, and they opened each of the 12 eggs to see what was inside. The first egg has a donkey, and the last egg is empty. Each of the eggs in between contains a small trinket to symbolize an important element of the Easter story.

They listened to the story, and then had fun putting them all back in the correct spot as they were able to see, touch, and hear about the promise of Easter.

Then we worked together on a little cooking project called Resurrection Rolls. Here, Carter starts with a marshmallow, and dips it in some melted margarine.

Next, he rolls the marshmallow in some cinnamon and sugar.

When it's all coated with the sugary mixture, he is ready to wrap it up in a crescent roll.

Matthew dips, rolls,

and wraps.

Ready for the oven.

All done!

And when you open it up, it's empty! Just like the tomb on Easter morning.

I found the recipe and instructions for these rolls on a blog I read, Balancing Beauty and Bedlam. It would make a fun and meaningful Easter tradition to start with your children or grandchildren.
"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." Matthew 28:6

I BeXLIeVed

This is my awesome new shirt I got from Fleurty Girl, a new shop in NOLA. Isn't it cute? They also have some that say WHO D@! So clever.

The shirts below were shipped to Haiti. So glad they can be put to good use. It would be fun to see folks in Haiti wearing them someday. We won't tell them they aren't really the champions. We don't want them to be embarrassed. ;)

Beautiful Feet

Jennifer and I went to get pedicures today, and it made me think of one of my favorite Sandi Patty albums, Friendship Company. We listened to it non-stop when it came out back in 1989. One of the songs on the album is called "Beautiful Feet." The words were written by Sandi Patty and Gloria Gaither.

As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news." Romans 10:15

There are feet that skip and play
There are feet that run away
There are feet that love a race and win or lose
There are chubby feet and small
And strong feet to kick a ball
But beautiful are the feet that bring good news.

There are feet that sleekly swim
Through the water wearing fins
There are feet that shimmy up the tallest trees
There are happy feet and sad
There are aching feet and mad
But beautiful are the feet that publish peace.

Those are beautiful feet
Beee-uuu-ti-ful feet!
Dutiful, cute-i-ful feet!
Tried and true-ti-ful feet
Me-ti-ful
You-ti-ful
Do you have beautiful feet!
Do you have beautiful feet!

Feet climb mountains, feet climb stairs
Some wear shoes, and some go bare!
There are feet of every shape and every size
But when feet run with the new
Jesus loves me and loves you
Then no matter what they look like - realize…

Beautiful feet
Beautiful feet
Beautiful, beautiful feet!
Tried and true-ti-ful feet
Me-ti-ful
You-ti-ful
Do you have beauti-i-ful feet

(Walkin’ with my Jesus down a one way street -

with my beautiful, beautiful feet.)

Go Nathan!

Nathan came to visit today and brought his mommy and daddy to have a meeting here. Nathan helped me in the kitchen while they were having their meeting. He wasn't so interested in playing with toys, but he loves the doors at our house. He had fun with the swinging door between our kitchen and dining room, the doors below the china cupboard (secured with rubber bands - I know about little boys), the freezer door, and the doors to the pantry. He even thought the pantry made a pretty good resting spot.

A perfect place for snacking on Cheerios.

He loves working the light switch.

And he is quite proud of himself for turning the light on and off again and again.

I offered him crayons and a coloring book, and he had lots of fun with them. He got the giggles from dropping handfuls of crayons on the floor.

Such a cutie.
Not sure what's up with the Tennessee shirt. I'm sure he has a (several) perfectly good Purdue shirt he could (should) be wearing today. At least he's not wearing a blue one. I definitely heard him say "Boiler Up" when we were alone in the kitchen together. Go Boilers! Beat... well you know. :)

Sweet!

As we enjoy our last couple days on beautiful Seven Mile Beach, David takes time to do a little work on his computer. Or maybe he was playing chess.

Haleigh gets a chance to get wet in the beautiful Caribbean.

She's not sure she likes getting her toes wet.

Safe in the arms of Mommy and Daddy. Bluest water ever.

Adam. Just Adam.

Haleigh looking cute and ready for the sunset.

It's a good one.

The gang is gathered for the viewing of the sunset.

We even had a sand crab join us.

Adam wasn't sure he wanted him under his chair.

"When the sun sinks down, over the water."

Haleigh, Andrew, and Darci.

Last morning walk.

Someone has a nice boat parked out there!

Last walk to the Westin for my custom made "Bumpin' Bananas."

And now down to the business of the day. Here is David, in Boilermaker Central, monitoring the game between the Aggies of A & M and our beloved Boilermakers. I spent most of the game pacing around the villas since we seemed to do better when I was outside.

Haleigh and Shylah are getting a bit nervous.

When all was said and done, the Boilers won in overtime, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen where they will face the Duke Blue Devils. We headed over to Eats to celebrate the victory. Sweet!

The Sun Sets on Siena

So this is the view looking out from our condo.

Would we really be inside watching this on TV?

Of course we would! We were supporting our Boilers as they took on Siena in the first round of the NCAA tournament. David and Adam looking a bit nervous in the first half.

David asked Shylah to change her shirt before halftime. She shouldn't have been surprised. And it worked! Here, Shy and Ryan look forward to the second half.

Andrew follows along on his computer. As I read in one online article, Purdue was playing with an "us against the world" attitude given that no one (not even the president of the United States) gave them much of a chance to win without you know who in the lineup. But you know what? Us won! Boiler Up!

Ryan and Adam celebrate with a walk on the beach.

We get ready to enjoy another Cayman sunset.

Adam gets into the photo taking.
And someone even takes my picture.

Jim decides that the best way to get your picture taken is to hold the baby. Smart move.
Andrew and Darci.

Shylah and David.

Haleigh and her mommy.
Just Haleigh.

One of the best sunsets ever. In honor of the Boilers, I think.

And Haleigh takes a snooze on her daddy's shoulder.

Dinner to celebrate the victory was at Breezes in downtown Georgetown. This was the view from our table on the deck.

Ryan and Adam.

A cool refreshment.

The plaid shorts boys.

And a yummy chocolate lava cake for dessert. A great day.
