We Are the World 25 for Haiti

Most of you know that my heart has been touched by the opportunities I have had to visit the mountain village of Fondwa, Haiti. My heart has also been broken by the devastation to that community and the country in the aftermath of the January 12 earthquake.

My friend, Pastor David Williamson, will be traveling to Fondwa next week to take supplies, document some of the damage there, and give comfort and support to our Haitian friends. Please pray for him, his group, and the people of Haiti as they begin the journey to rebuild and navigate the "mountains beyond mountains."

If you have not had the chance to see the remake of the song, "We Are the World", I have posted it here. I believe it is worth the 8 minutes it takes to watch it. God bless you.

A Friendly Reminder

We are so proud of our Boilers today, after they beat those pesky Ohio State Buckeyes for the first time ever at Value City Arena. I think they were needing a little revenge for letting OSU beat up on them at Mackey earlier this season.

David and Shylah, along with Jennifer, Jonathan, and Adam, made the trip to Columbus to cheer on their team. The cheering had to have been loud in order to be heard from their seats waaaaay up at the top.

I only got to watch the end of the second half, but did see Chris Kramer make this awesome block in the final minutes of the game.

David was given this reminder from a nice Buckeye fan who happens to be an Ohio State Trooper. I guess it's a good thing they met before the game, or the reminder might not have been quite so friendly!

Wednesdays With Matthew

Another snow day for Matthew, so we got to spend the whole day together. After I picked him up, we decided to get some donuts for breakfast. Cornerstone Bakery opened last fall, and we enjoyed several dozen donuts from there during football season for those early morning Purdue tailgates.

Matthew heads inside to buy some donuts.

Contemplating his choices.

Selection made, he heads out the door, donuts in hand.

Back to the car for a snowy drive back to Granny's.

Granny says it's fine to eat in the car. Delicious donuts!

Showers, Shovels, and Shakes

I took Andrew back to Louisville today, almost 1 week post appendectomy. We found his house pretty well covered in snow, and we were anxious to see the progress on the bathroom project.

The master bath is looking very nice, with a great new shower, two windows, and lovely green drywall.
Andrew checks out the fan above the shower.

The hallway bath has a new tub and the drywall is nearly finished.

The view from inside the bathroom looking toward the hallway.

Andrew makes his way through the snow to the garage to find me a shovel.

After a little work, we thought it was good enough for him to get his car out. Not bad for an old woman and a guy who is not supposed to lift over 10 pounds.

I just had to reward myself with a trip to this place:

A chocolate mint milkshake to go. Mmmmm.....

Snow Place Like Home

This photo was shown on Ellen last week, and pretty much describes how we are feeling here in southern Indiana. Enough already!!

Thankfully, we have excellent snow removal at our house. Now that's the way to clear a driveway! We just don't want to have to do it three times in three days.

No grilling today!

Gumbo enjoys the snow.

There is quite a cool looking drift on the roof of the porch.

I just hope no one is standing on the step when it decides to fall!

Stay warm!

Love is in the Air

We attended the Valentine's weekend wedding of Kelly Hipskind on Saturday. It was a beautiful ceremony as Kelly and Carla began their life together. Kelly's dad, Keith was one of the best men for the wedding. Keith coached both Andrew and Jonathan during their high school basketball careers. Kelly's sister Kate and David (along with Kate's mom Penny) had an adventure talking their way into a basketball game to see Michael Jordan play, and Kelly's youngest sister Kara and Andrew were good buddies throughout school. We were blessed to share this special occasion with good friends.

Kelly, who has never met a stranger, had quite a group of attendants for the wedding. There were 2 best men, 11 groomsmen, 2 ring bearers, 7 ushers, and 7 greeters. You might say that Kelly has "people."

Little Haleigh was very well behaved at the wedding, and took advantage of the time to take a little snooze.

After about an hour, Jon and Josh were craving some Arby's. They might have enjoyed a snooze as well. One thing about a Catholic wedding, they make sure they are good and married!

Haleigh found a comfortable spot to stretch out on her mommy's lap. Darci told Big Jon that her lap wasn't big enough for him.

This is the big bus ready to take the wedding party to the reception.

Uncle Big Jon takes a turn holding Haleigh.

Andrew and Darci. He looks pretty good for just having his appendix out on Wednesday.

Susan and Jim. Who took that picture?

Happy Valentine's Day!
