Dancing Queen(s)

We are enjoying a great reunion in Brown County. After a leisurely morning at our rented house, we headed into Nashville to do a little shopping. We LOVED this beautiful wisteria growing on the side of the Nashville House restaurant.

And I noticed (of course) some fun fleur de lis garden ornaments.

We found some cute wine glasses to mark a 50th birthday, but didn't buy them.

Debbie and Jan pose with another "50" glass.

We even tried a selfie, and managed to get everyone in the picture.

I thought Jennifer would like these socks.

And I loved these cute little Nemo socks.

Deb made me pose with this dog. Whatever.

Jan and I smile for Debbie.

Debbie took some great pictures of lillies of the valley.
We stopped for lunch at Hob Nob Corner.

We had a yummy lunch. Jan tried a big breaded tenderloin. I had the pot roast sandwich. Very delicious.

Jan went back in to get our shopping passport stamped. I am sure we will win the prize.

Amy and Ann are here!

I asked some random guy to take our picture. He was carrying a camera similar to mine, so I thought he could do it. Look at those 50 year old women.

Amy brought birthday wine glasses for each of us.

Ann shows one off.

And Debbie shows off her cool shoes.

Debbie and Amy had a game of horseshoes.

Look at that form!

I think Amy threw a ringer.

Amy mans the grill. Juicy burgers!

After a great dinner of cheesy potatoes, blue cheese slaw, and burgers, we did a little more facebook stalking. We also enjoyed looking at photos and yearbooks and catching up. Mary flies in tomorrow, and the party continues.

Since I chose the "master bedroom" of our cabin, and I AM the oldest, I have been dubbed "queen." That explains the title of this post. AND we have been listening to 70's music. :)

Hills O' Brown

Today we headed for the hills of Brown County to spend the weekend celebrating our 50th birthdays. It is so special to be able to share time with a group of high school friends to reminisce about the good old days. :) We rented a comfy log cabin called Bittersweet Farm and settled in for a fun weekend. Jan came from Pennsylvania last night, and we drove over this afternoon. Debbie came from Indy to join us this evening. Amy and Ann will arrive tomorrow afternoon, and Mary flies in from New York on Friday.

The cabin has a neat fireplace, and Jan lit a fire to warm us up.

We brought a few supplies.

We went into Nashville for dinner, and had a nice meal at the Artist's Colony Inn. I ordered a breaded tenderloin. Definitely not as good as Storie's.
After dinner we made a quick stop at the Nashville IGA.

We had to pick up a few essentials. Like ice cream.

Debbie wanted us to watch one of her favorite shows, but we had a struggle with the TV, and the TV won. We had just about given up on getting it to work at all, when a quick call to Jonathan saved the day. Such a nice boy to help out his old mama and her friends.

Jan and Debbie even had the chance to do a little Facebook stalking.

We are looking forward to a great weekend with great friends and great memories.

Weekend...

I thought I would post a few pictures from the weekend. Not all related, but fun nonetheless.

We are thankful for Nana's successful procedure to bend her knee. She now has the big job of keeping it moving. Part of her physical therapy includes this machine that moves her leg slowly. She is to do it 4 times a day for an hour each time. She is not sure she will be able to work all that in and still have time to eat!

Jim and I took Matthew to El Reparo on Friday night. Here he is waiting for our buzzer to go off.

And here he is with Jim waiting for our food.

On Saturday, I got to go to Mom's Day at the AGR house with Adam.

They served lunch, and then we moved to the basement for an auction of items brought by the moms. The auction items were displayed in the newly decorated bum room.

They have a nice new TV down there, as well as a new pool table.

One of my favorite parts of the AGR basement. How did that truck get in there?

Nick Frey was the auctioneer. He was Jonathan's roommate when they were freshmen.

I purchased this cool Purdue weathervane.

Adam and I tried a selfie before I headed home.

Haleigh was at our house this weekend too, and she was all clean after her bath.

Michael sent me this picture, just in case anyone has forgotten who won the Super Bowl.

Picture This

Jennifer and I are taking a photography class in Indy, so I thought I would post a few pictures from our first session. Our great teacher, Sarah, instructed us on how to get off the "auto" setting on our cameras, and then let us take a few shots to experiment. We learned some rules of composition, and she gave us a homework assignment for next week. Jennifer has already started her homework. I will try to post some of mine when I get started. I was never one to work too much ahead of time. :)

After class, Jennifer and I had some supper together, and then I went to Barnes & Noble to pick up a couple of books. Right there in the parking lot, was Gertie the Duck! She has laid her eggs in the mulch in the parking lot. In case you might not remember Gertie, she was a famous duck in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and there was a children's book written about her. It was one of my favorites as a child, and I can still remember my dad reading, "Gertie the Duck liked people."

Gertie was quite worried about her eggs, and the clerk in the bookstore was making phone calls trying to get some help for the duck. Here, you can see how close the eggs are to the store entrance. I wonder if this duck will cause as much commotion as Gertie did in Milwaukee all those years ago.

They Are Precious in His Sight

On Sunday morning, we left home in a beautiful sunrise to drive to Louisville for Haleigh's baptism.

Her daddy got her dressed in the dress worn by her mommy on her baptism day.

Matthew and Will were all ready for church, and spent some time playing a game together.

Aunt Fer and Haleigh. Pretty girls.

Pretty baby.

We made it to the church on time. Haleigh was blessed to have about 25 friends and family members there for her baptism.
There was a special banner up front in honor of her special day.

Pastor Ken talked about baptism in the children's sermon.

Standing up with Haleigh, along with her mommy and daddy and big brother Matthew, were their good friends Matt and Shelly, and their daughters Abbi and Makenna.

Matthew got to pour the water into the baptismal font.

Pastor Ken does the baptism,

and then shows her off to the congregation.

The sweet family after the service.

Matthew holds his baby sister.

Haleigh wore her great grandpa's baby ring, and a new bracelet of her own.

We got some sweet smiles.

After a great day celebrating our sweet little Haleigh, it was time to head home. I rode with Jennifer, and before we got to the corner, Andrew called to say she had forgotten her shoes. We circled back to get them (right past the Comfy Cow without stopping :() and he met us at the street with the shoes.

By the time we got to the bridge, Matthew was out. A nice ending to a great day.
