Key to the Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday Hodgepodge day, and since our hostess, Joyce, is planning a relaxing trip to the Florida Keys this month, she has given us some 'key' questions to ponder. I'm a teensy bit jealous of her time away, but I'll try my best to 'key in' on some answers from my less exotic location. Be sure to click on the button to visit Joyce and the other Hodgepodgers.
Here are her questions and my answers.

1. What would you say is the key to success?

Hmm…. I don't know…. hard work, perseverance, prayer.

2. Have you ever been to the Florida Keys? Any desire to visit that part of the US of A?

I visited Key West for the first time earlier this year when our cruise ship made a stop there. We enjoyed some of the touristy spots, which I wrote about here. I would love to go back to spend more time and get to know the place a little better. I liked the quaint buildings, the history, and the eclectic people that live and work there. I would also like to visit some of the other keys. I think you really need to have a boat to fully experience the Florida keys. Anyone have a boat?

3. When and where did you last see a real live donkey? Monkey? Turkey?

Our county fair was in July, and I'm pretty sure I saw a donkey down at the horse barn. There was definitely a turkey in the poultry barn. And I saw a monkeys at the zoo last week.

4. An old Portuguese proverb says, 'Beware of the door with too many keys.' What do you think this means? Share an example of how this has proven true or false in your own life.

I think it can have several meanings, but I'll take it to mean that we shouldn't make things harder than they really are. Which is my motto, really.

5. Besides your home, vehicle, and special jewelry, what is something you keep under lock and key?

I'm not very good about keeping anything under lock and key. But let's just keep that between you and me. Ok? :)

6. When did you last get keyed up about something?

I have five kids. I don't get too keyed up about much of anything anymore. When I did get keyed up, it was watching my kids compete in a big game, meet, or speech contest. These days, I mostly get keyed up when my team is playing. And the season opener is less than
WHO DAT, my friends!!

7. Who thinks we need an easy one right about now?  Key lime pie...yes please or no thank you?

Yes please. This is key lime pie from the Southernmost Beach Cafe in Key West. You can't visit the keys without trying key lime pie now, can you? (I recently saw a photo of deep fried key lime pie? My oh my!)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

School started this week, and with it some adorable photos of my excited grands.

Matthew started 5th grade. How is that possible?

Haleigh (4) and Ella (3) are so excited to be in preschool together.
And soon to be one-year-old Noah is too young for school, but he is learning about cabinets, and clapping, and climbing into his stroller.
Have a great Wednesday, okeydokey?

My grands don't back to school until August and September but I am hearing about their new backpacks. The 2 youngest will be in morning preschool and their Moms' are anxious for them.

Your key lime pie looks delicious! Does it have a chocolate crust?

It's making my mouth water just looking at it!

I am really enjoying everyone's different answers to this week's Hodgepodge. So many weeks, we all answer close to the same way. Joyce outdid herself with this one!

Your grands are adorable!! Noah is growing up so fast, and does he ever have the sweetest face!!
