Party Like It's Your Birthday!

On Sunday, we celebrated the birthdays of Haleigh and Matthew at their home in Louisville. We started the day with church, and I took a few pictures of Haleigh in her birthday dress all ready for the day.

Matthew is a good sport about getting his picture taken. He takes good care of his little sister.

There were actually several adults at the party. I just didn't get pictures of many of them. The birthday girl and boy got most of the attention. Here is Haleigh ready to eat her lunch.

And Matthew ate all his lunch, knowing what comes next... cake!

Haleigh's pretty cake.

And Matthew's cool Lego cake. Both cakes were made by Where the Cookie Crumbles, and we even had cookies to match. Yummy!

Of course, after lunch, Jim had a different plan.

Will and Matthew enjoyed checking out the Lego cake, and the Star Wars characters decorating it.

Haleigh got to see her cake too. She was anxious to test it out with her fingers.

She was waiting for someone to light the candle.

Matthew and her mommy helped blow out the candle.

And when they took the cake away to cut it...

she was not a happy girl.

Next, it was Matthew's turn for candles.

It's great to be (almost) seven years old.

And it's great to have friends to share the fun.
Makenna...

cousin Clara...

and Abbi.

They opened lots of fun presents, and cousin Fritz tried out Haleigh's new pink pony. Grandpa Charley helped him with the flower headband.

I think he liked it!

Wild Wings and Comfy Cow

I was in Louisville last weekend, staying with Matthew and Haleigh on Friday night, and staying for their birthday celebration on Sunday. On Saturday, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch since Darci had a coupon for a free dessert. We wouldn't want to pass this up now would we?

She and Matthew selected the dessert. And they shared.

Matthew enjoyed his portion.

And Haleigh was hopeful for a little bite for herself.

After lunch, Matthew and Andrew spent some time playing Angry Birds on my phone. I'm told it's a fun game. I would really prefer Happy Birds, but that's just me.

I'm not sure which kid enjoyed it more.

Haleigh just watched.

Of course, no trip to Louisville is complete without a visit to our favorite, The Comfy Cow. Makes me drool just thinking about it. This time, I had a coupon for a free scoop for my birthday. I was so happy they still had my favorite, Peppermint Stick. I believe it's not just for the holidays any more. And with a dollop of hot fudge? Perfect.

I always notice something new in their decorations. So cute.

I think Matthew got his favorite, Cookie Monster Dough.

It's a good thing that a missing front tooth doesn't interfere with eating ice cream!

Haleigh was anxious to get a bite.

Her daddy shared, and she loved it. But of course!

Aunt Becky and Darci loved theirs too.

This face pretty much sums up how we feel about the Comfy Cow! It might be cold outside, but inside, it's suh-weeeeet!
