O Christmas Tree

This morning's snowfall meant it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, and it made it the perfect day to go get the tree. Even more perfect was the fact that Matthew was here, and could go with us.

We bundled up and headed to Bohman's to pick out a good one. You know, get a good tree, Charlie Brown.

For the past few years, we have gotten a Fraser fir. At Bohman's, these trees are pre-cut and waiting near the entrance. Jim and Matthew look over the trees.

It didn't take Matthew long to find one he liked.

It was still snowing a bit, and the trees were so pretty with snow on the branches.

Matthew and Jim finalize the selection. With approval from Granny, of course.

Some of the trees are baled for safe travel.

Matthew watched as they carried our tree to the shaker.

The snow is shaken off, and it's ready for measuring and drilling.

After calculating the height of our ceiling, minus the stand, and subtracting the angel, we decided precisely where to make the cut. Or, as I said, "that looks about right."

Making sure it's straight for drilling.

This guy was carrying two trees to his vehicle.

Most folks ride the wagon out to the tree field to cut down the perfect tree.

Of course, Jim and Matthew had to have a little hot chocolate to warm them up after the hard work of selecting that pre-cut tree.

It was pretty hot.

But very tasty.

Hits the spot.
Time to load up the tree...
and head for home.

Back home, Jim unloaded the tree...

and carried it in.

You got a good tree, Matthew!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How richly God has decked thee!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How richly God has decked thee!
Thou bidst us true and faithful be,
And trust in God unchangingly.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
How richly God has decked thee!
