Resurrection!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

I saw these Resurrection Eggs on one of the blogs I read, and I thought they would be fun for Matthew. The blog said you could buy them at Wal-Mart, but I didn't find them there so I ordered them online.

I read the story to Matthew and Carter, and they opened each of the 12 eggs to see what was inside. The first egg has a donkey, and the last egg is empty. Each of the eggs in between contains a small trinket to symbolize an important element of the Easter story.

They listened to the story, and then had fun putting them all back in the correct spot as they were able to see, touch, and hear about the promise of Easter.

Then we worked together on a little cooking project called Resurrection Rolls. Here, Carter starts with a marshmallow, and dips it in some melted margarine.

Next, he rolls the marshmallow in some cinnamon and sugar.

When it's all coated with the sugary mixture, he is ready to wrap it up in a crescent roll.

Matthew dips, rolls,

and wraps.

Ready for the oven.

All done!

And when you open it up, it's empty! Just like the tomb on Easter morning.

I found the recipe and instructions for these rolls on a blog I read, Balancing Beauty and Bedlam. It would make a fun and meaningful Easter tradition to start with your children or grandchildren.
"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." Matthew 28:6
