Rings and Things

You may remember this photo of Jennifer from a Phone Photo Friday post a few weeks ago. And why, exactly, was she using a metal detector? Well, it's a story....

You see, back in June, her boyfriend proposed to her at an art gallery with a carefully thought-out and clever plan. You can read the recap of the evening in Bryan's own words, which even involved the sewing of the ring into his pocket for safekeeping.

This is the painting she saw hanging on the wall of the gallery just before he dropped to one knee and popped the question.

In the midst of the planning for their April wedding, and well into the frenzy of the Christmas season, Bryan received a text message from Jennifer with some bad news. The ring was, in her words, "officially lost." She was devastated. Despite frantic searching in multiple areas over the course of several days, it could not be found. She even made use of a metal detector (shown above in our backyard where she tried it out) to no avail.
Fortunately, Bryan is a kind and understanding fiance, and thankfully the ring was insured. Bryan's account of the story gives all the details of the crisis and the resolution.

As they begin their life together, it is safe to say that this will be just one of the bumps and bends along the way. I pray that they will rely on God and each other as they face life's challenges, and that they remember that the most important things in life aren't things.
